ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
In Bloom grew from an idea that first emerged during the Covid-19 period, when Julia Borg became deeply interested in the lives and stories of remarkable women. The exhibition explores femininity through flowers — as symbols of inner strength, motherhood, vulnerability and renewal.
In this series, Julia developed a freer semi-abstract language, combining oil, acrylic and mixed media. Expressive brushwork, layered texture and saturated colour allow floral forms to emerge, dissolve and bloom across the canvas.
At its heart, In Bloom is about the moment a woman begins to flourish when love, balance and self-acceptance come together. Each painting expresses a different emotional state while celebrating the many ways femininity can be felt and lived.
